Thanksgiving Day is here. And so is the first Washington Redskins Thanksgiving home game in team history.

The critical moment of the Washington Redskins season is here. Thanksgiving Day. The team is sitting on a 4-6 record. Given the injuries they have dealt with and the toughness of the schedule they have faced, that number is somewhat impressive. At the same time, it’s fair to argue that they should have more wins and that poorly timed errors have led them to blow a couple of games, including last week’s loss to the Saints.

However, all that is behind the team now. All they can focus on moving forward is trying to win the games left on their slate. And on this short week, they’ll start by trying to knock off the New York Giants.

The Giants are currently a lowly 2-8, but they just beat the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 12-9. Their defense looks to have gotten back on track, so the Redskins are going to have to be prepared to battle that rejuvenated unit. Kirk Cousins and Samaje Perine are really going to have to show up, and Jay Gruden needs to come armed with a balanced game plan. If they can do that, they will have a chance to win.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Redskins mainly have to focus on patching injuries across the unit. With two defensive starters out in Terrell McClain and Montae Nicholson, and Martrell Spaight nursing an injury, the team is going to have to step up and fill in for them. Thankfully, the Giants possess a fairly weak offense and Eli Manning isn’t the quarterback he once was. The team’s receiving corps is also depleted which should have a negative impact on their ability to produce too.
