The Washington Redskins are selecting their third to last pick in the sixth round. With the pick, they opted to take Robert Davis.

After making their first trade in the 2017 NFL Draft and selecting offensive lineman Chase Roullier, the Washington Redskins added another player at a position of need in the sixth round. With the No. 209 overall pick, the team chose Robert Davis to join their team and provide depth at the wide receiver position.

The Redskins needed to add depth at the receiver position. They lost DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon in free agency, while they added Terrelle Pryor and Brian Quick. However, they still needed a younger player to develop as a No. 5 or No. 6 guy, and Robert Davis is going to be a solid type of player for them.

Davis played his college ball at Georgia Southern in the Sun Belt conference. In the last couple of season, the strong wide-out has posted at least 968 yards and five touchdowns as he was the leader for the team’s receiving corps. Davis has excellent size at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds and he has the makings of a potentially solid possession receiver.

This selection represents that the Redskins are continuing to move towards an offense that utilizes taller receivers. With Pryor, Davis, and Josh Doctson on the roster, the Redskins are going to have some very solid red zone weapons and that will allow them to fix an area that was a problem for them last year.

In the sixth round, Davis is a high upside guy. He is a good enough value and the Redskins are happy to have him. Now, the team can take the best player available with each of their two seventh round picks, and that could greatly help them to find some diamonds in the rough.
