The Washington Redskins have had a very strong draft thus far. In the sixth round, they added center Chase Roullier after trading up to the No. 199 overall pick.

Day 3 of the 2017 NFL Draft was always going to be a big one for the Washington Redskins. With seven total picks, they were going to have a chance to add some serious quality players. In round four, they grabbed Samaje Perine and Montae Nicholson to fill needs the team had. In round five, they made more of a luxury pick, as they selected tight end Jeremy Sprinkle.

In round six, the Redskins traded up from No. 201 to No. 199 and took in Chase Roullier, a center from Wyoming. Roullier started all 14 games at center during the 2017 season, but had started 24 games at left guard in the previous two seasons. The team really needed to add some offensive line depth, and adding a versatile offensive lineman was a smart move.

For the Redskins, Roullier will likely be the top backup at the center position. The team lost backup John Sullivan and veteran Kory Lichtensteiger during the offseason, and Spencer Long is set to be a free agent in the near future. For now, Roullier can work as a backup, but there is a chance that could develop into a starter at either guard or center as he develops.

However, trading up to get Roullier is a bit questionable. He is a fine value in round six, but they must have really thought that the Tennessee Titans were going to take Roullier. Coincidentally, the Titans traded their pick to the New York Giants, so maybe another team was try to move up to get him. Right now, the specifics of the deal are not in yet, but we will update you on them as soon as they are available.

Still, this is a pick that fills a need and it is unlikely that the Redskins surrendered much to move up. Roullier has upside, so this is decent pick.
