On Monday night, it was revealed the Washington Redskins outside linebacker Junior Galette had been arrested over the weekend in Biloxi, Mississippi. More details came out about the encounter on Tuesday.

When news broke that Junior Galette had been arrested on Monday night, there was cause for some concern. The Washington Redskins edge rusher has had a couple of run-ins with the law before, and he was supposed to be on the trail to making a comeback. After missing the last two seasons with serious injuries, Galette was hoping to play his first game as a member of the Redskins. However, there were concerns after his arrest that he may have gotten himself into more trouble.

On Tuesday afternoon, more details surrounding the arrest were made public. According to the Around The NFL staff from the NFL Network, this is what happened on Friday night:

More from Riggo's Rag

"According to Biloxi Police Sgt. Jackie Rhodes, an officer responding to a report of a possible fight at a concert outside MGM Park in Biloxi saw Galette striking another individual. When the officer told Galette to stop, he ran away. The officer eventually caught up with Galette and used a stun gun on him before arresting him.Rhodes said Galette cooperated with officers after his arrest and he was released from custody a short time later after posting bond. Rhodes added that Galette likely wouldn’t have been arrested if he intially cooperated with police."

The fact that Galette was in a fight is obviously the most concerning part of the arrest. In the past, he has been involved in an incident where he was charged with domestic violence and also was in a video that showed him striking a woman with a belt on the beach. In the two circumstances, the charges were either dropped or never filed.

The good news for Galette is that he did cooperate with the officers after his arrest. Granted, they did have to use a stun gun on him before he would cooperate, but as Rhodes said in the quote, he would not have been arrested had he initially cooperated. That is the most important part of the report, and will certainly be taken into consideration.

Overall, Galette’s arrest is another negative mark on his Redskins career, but it should not greatly impact his status moving forward, based on these facts. The team will continue to monitor the situation, but it does not seem like much will come out of this.
