4. San Francisco 49ers – Joshua Garnett, OG

Chip Kelly doesn’t have a good track record with first round picks, especially during his time with the Philadelphia Eagles.  It’s part of the reason that Kelly is no longer the Eagles head coach. Now that Kelly is head coach of the San Francisco 49ers it appears as though he still hasn’t learned.

The 49ers traded up into the first round in order to take Stanford guard Joshua Garnett.  Again Garnett might turn into a good player but the 49ers didn’t need to trade up to get him.  They could have gotten him in round two.  Even if they didn’t get him is Garnett a make or break player?

I don’t think so.  The Niners swapped their second round pick to move up number 28 and they also gave up a 4th and a 6th round pick.  I think they could have held on to those picks and still gotten Garnett with the pick they traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in round two.
