Is RGIII Done?
In the news this week, surprise, is more Robert Griffin III talk. Is he done? No, of course he’s not done! Yes, of course he is! Well maybe! We’ll just wait this season out and talk about it seventy more times!

Honestly, at this point, I hope he’s done. Why? Because then we could stop having this debate. Then we could stop believing that RG3 is the answer to two-plus decades of woe. Then the Redskins could stop pathetically tweeting gifs of RG3 meaninglessly stiff-arming a guy during a road loss while trying and failing to find an open receiver:
Are we ready to see what? More conflicted scrambling? More rolling slides? How incredibly irrational have we become about this guy?
What other bottom-15 QB gets this much ripping and benefit of the doubt simultaneously? The evidence is crystal clear: Griffin no longer shows signs of being NFL-capable, and it would take nothing less than a miracle to change that.
Among the things he needs to change are his mechanics, his decision-making, and his leadership skills. Which leaves, what exactly to build on?
And the seasons get worse and worse. He was even more indecisive last seasons than the previous seasons, leading to an historic sack-rate, a regressed TD-Int ratio, and a horrid run of third-down difficulties, noted here at Hogs Haven. Take a look at RG3’s Approximate Value, Pro Football Reference’s metric for measuring a player’s overall value to his team, in his first three seasons.
It does not take a statistician to notice a trend. Beyond his regression in terms of on-the-field measurables, it seems clear that he’s become more defensive and agitated during these last two seasons. The situation is bleak heading into 2015. So then why are Redskins’ fans so desperate to defend him?
If you want to understand why Redskins fans can’t help but hope, you have to remember what the last two decades have been like. You may have read about it; I have lived it.
