The Vikings may not have the record to show for it, but head coach Mike Zimmer’s defense has been playing well throughout this season.

Minnesota’s defense is ranked eighth in total yards allowed per game, and fourth in passing yards allowed per game. And they also get after the quarterback — as they are second in the NFL with 25 sacks this season.

With it being Griffin’s first game back, the Redskins’ offensive line has to take pride in preventing a Vikings pass-rush. Griffin can’t afford to be picked up off the ground play after play.

He can’t afford to take unnecessary hits either, so he has to do a good job of protecting himself — by throwing the ball away or running out of bounds.

The Redskins have a bye week after Sunday’s contest; they just need Griffin to get through this game healthy.
