Future Redskins take field at Chris Cooley’s Camp…

AUTHOR: | IN: A Closer Look, In The News | COMMENTS: None Yet

With all that is wrong with the NFL and the lockout, it’s good to get together and partake in people who play football for the pure passion and love for the game…the KIDS!! I went to the the website —> www.ChrisCooleyCamp.com and read up on the activities that take place. This looks like something that can really help the kids get some quality hands on experience. It says that Chris Cooley will be in attendance and participating, I’m thinking that since the rest of the Redskins don’t have anything else to do they can help too! So if you have a child [...]

NY Jets Head Coach, Rex Ryan leans on Joe Gibbs

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Feature Commentary, In The News, Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

via Pro Football Talk: The Jets have experienced a lot of heartbreak lately.  To help change that trend, Rex Ryan spoke to the Godfather of work stoppages in the NFL coaching community. “I called Joe Gibbs,” Ryan said at a meeting with prospective Jets business partners Wednesday, via the Jets’ website. “When they went through some work stoppages, the last two times the Washington Redskins won two Super Bowls.   So I figured that would be a good guy to call.” The lockout will provide a unique challenge to coaching staffs. Those that are smart enough to adjust and think on their feed [...]

In a new development, the associated press has reported that the Redskins coaching staff has sided with ownership in the NFL labor dispute, as opposed to the players.  A part of the AP article as found at www.cnnsi.com follows.  ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Redskins coaching staff distanced itself from other coaches Thursday by siding with ownership — and not the players — in the NFL’s labor dispute. The Redskins released a statement signed by all 17 of the team’s assistant coaches. The statement was a response to a court brief in support of the players filed Wednesday by the NFL [...]

Rex Grossman and John Beck amidst a QB War they didn’t start

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Feature Commentary, In The News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Could we be headed into another quarterback controversy?  Could there be a QB controversy happening outside the confines of Redskins Park in Ashburn, VA and on the grass field of a Northern Virginia High School? It appears that way but may not be the case.  Why you ask?  Because neither man has been officially appointed such by head coach Mike Shanahan, and neither will be until mid to late training camp, whenever that is.  But until then, each man has given good reasons why they think they will be the man under center this fall. Dan Steinberg transcribed great interviews [...]

Portis to the Giants?

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Last week it was Carlos Rogers saying how he’d love to play for the Eagles or Cowboys so he could play the Redskins twice a year, and this week it’s Clinton Portis. In an interview on Sirus XM Radio with Brian McGovern and Maurice Jones-Drew, Portis commented on many topics including his time in Washington, Donovan McNabb, and what it is like to be a free agent during the lockout. But he most notably mentioned that like Carlos Rogers, that it would be outstanding for him to “get to play the Redskins twice a year after them feeling [he] wasn’t [...]

How Important is PR During the Lockout?

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

The players have a chance for an enormous PR win right now, if they act quickly. With news today that many NFL franchises are already cutting pay of secretaries, PR people, salespeople, etc. (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/05/24/the-list-of-teams-cutting-pay-during-the-lockout/), the players union has a chance to make a splash. Granted, I tend to be on the side of the players through this debate; I can not understand why teams are cutting pay already? This seems like a horrible PR move to cut pay during a period when they are not usually receiving large amounts of income during regular, non-lockout times. This is a serious blow [...]
