Redskins round 2-4; it’s raining picks, hallelujah
With the second pick in the draft the Redskins take Clemson DL Jarvis Jackson, further bolstering a defense badly in need of fresh growth. Miami WR Leonard Hankerson was taken in round three, finally adding the WR I knew they needed and would eventually take. Hankerson has the potential to be a number one wide out. RB Roy Helu of Nebraska was the Skins’ fourth round pick adding a potential bruiser to the running game. The most important development is that through cunning trade-downs, Mike Shanahan has secured more picks than the Skins have had in numerous years. This years [...]
Skins double the fun; two likely round two picks
After trading down in the first round of the draft and selecting DE Ryan Kerrigan at number 16, the Redskins are now in the unlikely and quite fortuitous situation of having two second round draft picks. Though the selection of Kerrigan might have caught some off-guard, it was a wise move as the Redskins will be hurting mid-draft, having given away several picks in order to secure QB Donovan McNabb last year. The question now revolves around who the Redskins will pick. I still think the greatest need for the Redskins remains in the WR position. With the 41st pick [...]
Washington Redskins looking for more picks
ESPN 980, the official radio broadcasting network for the Washington Redskins, said this on their Facebook page today. Sources tell ESPN 980 that the #Redskins are trying very hard to dump out of the #41 spot in the 2nd round, to acquire at least one 3rd/4th round pick – perhaps more. San Francisco (#45, #76 (3rd), #108 & #115 (4th’s) + New England (# 33, #56, # 60 (2nd’s) + #74, #92 (3rd’s) + #125 (4th) are possible dance partners. This should be interesting to see. It may be possible for them to re-acquire the picks they lost last year. [...]
Here is some clarification on what is going on via PFT: In the fluid situation that is the NFL labor mess, mistakes are being made — including a big one in the ESPN report that we cited just moments ago. During the 1 p.m. Eastern SportsCenter, ESPN broke in with an on-screen graphic saying, “BREAKING NEWS: Court grants temporary stay of players’ injunction, reinstates NFL lockout.” With that graphic on the screen, ESPN’s John Clayton reported that “The doors are going to be closing very, very quickly.” But during the 2 p.m. SportsCenter, ESPN changed its graphic to, “DEVELOPING STORY: [...]

More information on the stay
From Yahoo Sports: The stay, according to a source familiar with the players’ interests, would be of the “administrative” variety, meaning the lockout would not be lifted until Monday at the earliest. At that point, upon receipt of the owners’ final submission, the Eighth Circuit would weigh the players’ argument against a stay pending the league’s appeal of Nelson’s ruling to the Eighth Circuit and decide whether to keep the stay in place until they render a decision on the appeal. While this is may only last the weekend, it is a shame that this news is coming out only [...]
BREAKING NEWS: Lockout on, Court approves the stay
According to Pro Football Talk: Although NFL players were being welcomed back to team facilities this morning because of Judge Susan Nelson’s injunction to end the lockout, that is changing this afternoon. ESPN is reporting that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit has granted a temporary stay of the injunction and reinstated the lockout, meaning players will now be told to hit the road, and doors to team facilities are being locked this afternoon. Michael Silver of Yahoo reported this afternoon that NFL players were bracing for a ruling from the Court of Appeals that would give [...]
Five things you WILL NOT SEE at Redskins Park
1. Donovan McNabb on the treadmil working on his cardiovascular detail. 2. Albert Haynesworth missing lunch because he is busying breaking down film. 3. Brandon Banks placing fliers for a party at “The Park” underneath the windshield wiper blades of the cars in the parking lot. 4. Footballs purchased from Dick’s being thrown around. 5. Reporters from the Washington City Paper covering the team.
Mike Jones for the Washington Post writes: Linebackers Rob Jackson and Lorenzo Alexander, kicker Graham Gano, and tackles Clint Oldenburg and Selvish Capers were among the first to arrive. [Update: DeAngelo Hall, Will Montgomery, Macho Harris, Kevin Barnes, Chris Horton and Kedric Golston are also on hand.] The NFL told teams to reopen for business in a limited fashion after a federal judge on Monday issued a preliminary injunction lifting the lockout that owners imposed on players March 12. St. Paul-based judge Susan Richard Nelson on Wednesday refused to stay her order. So the Redskins are now allowed inside the [...]
Washington Redskins was Ryan Kerrigan’s choice all along
Ryan Kerrigan was so gleaming with approval of the team that would select him he had to tell his mommy and daddy. I for one am happy he is here! He didn’t have all the fanfare, so he may have a bit of a chip on his shoulders. He was drafted in the top 20 so he should have great ability. So as he begins his pro career, here is a bi-polar welcome message for him!
