Seattle Bound

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Two minutes to go in the game so I hope I don’t jinx us, but I don’t see how I can.  Playoffs, baby!  And we’re the hottest team in the NFC right now.  It wouldn’t suprise me any if Vegas actually listed us as the favorite.
I won’t crow too loudly over the Cowboys fans, because let’s face it, they didn’t need this as much as we did.  On the other hand, we did crush their starters, and the last I checked, we held them to negative yardage rushing.  This wasn’t just a win.  This was a total dismantling.
I’ll talk more [...]

Hey Look, We’re Trendy Again

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Used to be that in the old days that while the Cowboys were called “America’s Team” it was the Redskins that were hot in the capitol.  Every politician was a Redskins fan even if they had to tell their constituents back home they cheered for the home team.  At least for one political blogger, we’re back.  Check out this post on Politico.com where Anne Mullins compares us to Mike Huckabee.
Now, frankly, I’d prefer to be compared to Fred Thompson.  He kicked ass in “Hunt for Red October” and “Days of Thunder.”  But at least Huckabee has been endorsed by Chuck [...]

A Conversation With the Enemy

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Dan over at the Landry Hat and I have been having a little email discussion. I’ll post the link to my half of the conversation as soon as have it, in the mean time, check out his site here and read his half of the conversation below:

1) OK, you’ve had a great season. We can’t take that away from you. Settle the issue once and for all—Who’s the better coach? Parcells or Wade Phillips?

Wow. Great question. I have to be honest, when Bill Parcells was announced the coach I was very, very happy. But [...]

Portis Named Player of the Week

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Clinton Portis was named NFC offensive player of the week for week 16. Congrats to Clinton.  I don’t have too much to say except that I’m sorry that I posted that I would rather have Adrian Peterson.  Thanks for a big game, CP.

It Doesn’t Get Bigger

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

OK, the wrapping paper is finally picked up from around the tree.  The eggnog hangover is just about gone.  Santa Claus is spending a week in the hot tub before he starts cranking out more Wiis. We took care of business on Sunday night.
Now that that is all out of the way, bring on the Cowboys and the Redskins and one of the biggest clashes in recent memory in this storied rivalry.  The Cowboys will want nothing more than to send the Redskins home early, and Redskins fans will be drooling over the prospects of not only getting in the playoffs [...]

Thank God They’re On Our Side

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Who runs the Redskins official website?  A closet Cowboy’s fan?  If you guys haven’t seen it, Redskins.com is running a poll asking who is a better RB, Clinton Portis or Adrian Peterson.
Look, I love CP.  Every patient off tackle play where he puts his hand on the back of a pulling guard and waits for the hole to open and then pops right through for eight yards it warms the cockles of my heart.  Every time I see him pick up a blitz while sacrificing his own body by slamming it into a 250 lb lineback running full speed, I [...]

TO Complaining About Someone Else Being a Distraction?

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

I thought it was fun when ESPN showed those stats about Romo having a bad game when Jessica Simpson and Carrie Underwood were at the game. And, of course, like any normal person (this excludes radio talk show hosts, guys from Around the Horn, and any other talking head) I chalked it up as a funny coincidence.  But count Terrell Owens as another person who thinks a pair of Daisy Dukes can do more to Romo than a well-timed blitz.
According to Yahoo!, TO had two conflicting statements.  One was the rather playful statement, “Right now, Jessica Simpson is not a fan [...]

Taylor, Samuels and Cooley Get Pro Bowl Nod

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

In a nice way to go out, Sean Taylor, along with Chris Samuels and Chris Cooley, was named to the Pro Bowl today. The sad thing, of course, is that he won’t be there to bury another punter.
I can’t really complain about any other Skins not getting named.  I do think London Fletcher deserves to be on the team.  He’s third in the NFL in tackles, has been a rock in the center of our D, and he certainly has the resume. But Patrick Willis has been incredible this year for the 49ers and Lofa Tatupu is better in coverage [...]

In the Thick of Things

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

What a win!  The second easiest game of the year (behind the Detroit game) and proof that for 7 out of 8 quarters against the Giants we have outclassed them.  This game makes all the close loses feel even crappier as we should have been one the teams clinching this week.
As it is, we’re right in the middle of things.  If we beat the Vikings (who looked very human tonight against the Bears), it sets up a big game against the Cowboys in week 17. As you can see, Dan over at the Landry Hat is talking louder as his [...]

Shooting My Mouth Off

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

I did a little Q & A with Neil over at our FSB partner site G-Men HQ, and it reminded me that I have bee remiss in welcoming our new FSB sites in the NFC East. Please check out my interview, and then check out the sites below:
Let’s welcome Dan from the Landry Hat who has been commenting on my posts of late with a spirited but polite sense of rivalry.  I invite all of you to do the same.
Also, there’s Ian over at Inside the Iggles. He’s got some great video up over there right now, and hopefully we can [...]
