This from Sports Illustrated:
“Paul Brown Stadium officials want permission to shoot down pigeons that are pooping on Bengals fans’ heads — and in their food and beer — during games.”
I know the Bengals must be frustrated but calling your defense a bunch of pigeons and asking to shoot them definitely won’t help.
And if you shoot them, won’t you just have to get more? I’m pretty sure NFL rules make you field a defense.
The article goes on to say that Brown was considering hiring Michael Vick as a consultant for the Bengals. Word is that Bengals players are now avoiding any [...]

Welcome Bear Goggles!
Let’s all extend a warm welcome to Fan-Sided Network’s latest site, Bear Goggles. This might be the best name for a website I’ve heard in a long time, and if you go to the site you’ll see there’s plenty more to make you laugh. And given the Grossman fiasco, I’m sure there’s plenty of interesting content there right now. And let’s not forget that we play the Bears on 12/6. As November rolls in, we have to represent by going over there and mocking them relentlessly. Welcome Bear Goggles!

…this is why.
After Some Thought…
I’ve decided I’m just not going to break down yesterday’s loss. It just isn’t worth bringing people down. Yes, I could talk about how we only had 9 yards of total offense in the 3rd quarter. Yes, I could talk about Casey Rabach’s two late penalties that ruined the final drive. I could talk about inconvenient injuries to Santana Moss and Rocky McIntosh.
But you know what? It isn’t worth it. We’ve got two weeks now to straighten things out. We’re 2-1 and ahead of two teams in the NFC East. All the things we were good at before last week [...]
Ugh..oh well.
I can’t bring myself to really talk about it yet. This is all I can muster:
If you told me in August we would be 2-1 to start the season, I’d have been happy with that.
Does that help? I didn’t think so. I’ll say more when I stop throwing up in my mouth.

Keys to the Game
Let’s face it, the key to this game is to not get cocky and assume the Giants are already toast. We play hard for 60 minutes and run it down their throats and mix in the deep pass and we’ll win. The Giants sound like a team in total disarray, but this is a division battle and you never know when a division foe will rise up to bite you.
The Giants have the worst pass defense in the NFC. They’ve given up an average of 310 yards per game. It would be tempting to air it out like we did [...]
You have to take this with a grain of salt but Redskins.com has this quote from Coach Gibbs regarding Jason Campbell:
“I think this week he has had a little different presence in practice based off of what he did Monday night,” Gibbs said. “I think he made some real good plays. We all saw the way he played. Anytime you do that, it kind of lifts you.”
First off, if this is true, that totally rocks. When I read a quote from a coach like this, though, I usually assume that the player in question is the same as he always [...]
3rd and It Doesn’t Matter
The Post has a great article showing one of the big successes for the Redskins has been 3rd down on both sides of the ball. The offense is 4th in the league in 3rd down conversions. The defense has allowed only 4 first downs in the 20 3rd downs they’ve faced this year versus the 13 for 21 the offense has converted so far.
I have four words for the Post– regression to the mean.
I’m not trying to be a downer. I really don’t want to get down on this team right now. But there is no way this team is [...]
Party Time?
Thomas Boswell of the Post just posted this little Op/Ed piece telling us we should all just feel great about the Skins right now. The thrust is that we should enjoy the feeling of the wins because we never know when things will change. I’d recommend reading it because it will get you in a good mood.
My only real comment is that Boswell kinda has a lot of nerve. The man is Mr. Gloom. He spends a good chunk of his time moaning about the O’s and Nats. Of course, there is plenty to moan about, but still. This is [...]
Cowboys Sign the Tank
The Cowboys signed Tank Johnson today to a two year deal. It would be easy to make fun of this signing. On the surface it looks like a typical Dallas Cowboys maneuver. Ignore the crime for the talent. Just like they ignored it with Michael Irvin, Nate Newton, Barry Switzer, Jason Garrett, etc. And of course, they cut crappy guys like Quincy Carter when they get arrested. That’s the Cowboys (and the Raiders) for you.
The problem here, of course, is that the Redskins could use the help on the line, and it is hard for me not to think it [...]
