Commanders inactives list for Week 8 game against Bears: Jayden Daniels is in
By Dean Jones
One injury above all else has caused a stir where the Washington Commanders are concerned leading into their Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears. One that could have a huge impact on whether head coach Dan Quinn's men can secure a sixth victory in eight regular-season contests.
Jayden Daniels' rib complication is something the Commanders are currently navigating. Quinn and his staff are leaving no stone unturned and covering every base with the team's franchise player. He wanted to play despite missing most of practice this week. Erring on the side of caution was the preferred and correct method implemented by those in power.
The signs were positive regarding Daniels. He came through Friday's session unscathed and went through more work on Saturday. This led Adam Schefter of ESPN to declare that all signs pointed to the Heisman Trophy winner out of LSU taking the field.
Rookie left tackle Brandon Coleman's progress was less promising. The first-year standout couldn't get out of the NFL's concussion protocol in time and was ruled out. This leaves veteran edge protector Cornelius Lucas left to man Daniels' blindside versus a decent Bears defensive front consisting of former Washington defensive end Montez Sweat.
Another concern was Dorance Armstrong Jr. The edge rusher missed last weekend's comfortable triumph over the Carolina Panthers and was listed as questionable for the clash. Considering how well the Bears' offense has functioned in recent weeks, his presence as a pass-rusher and edge-setter against the run could be highly advantageous.
