The Washington Commanders' hopes of going deep into the playoffs and potentially winning the Super Bowl are long gone. Head coach Dan Quinn's squad is 3-8 after a disastrous run of six-straight losses, leaving many fans turning their attention towards what should be another critical offseason for general manager Adam Peters.
That is not a sentiment shared by those in the locker room. They'll be fighting with everything possible to turn things around. It might not work, but quitting is not an option when dozens face extremely uncertain futures next spring.
And one player delivered a clear message to Commanders fans who've already thrown in the towel.
Von Miller issues rallying cry before Commanders' prime time test against the Broncos
Von Miller is not giving up. He issued a rallying cry to his teammates and the fan base, highlighting the talent in the building and the returning players coming back from injury as reasons for optimism. And if they can't motivate themselves for another prime-time game, they are in the wrong business.
"You can't really worry about the past. We've got a really good team coming in, and it will be a great test for us. All we can do is stay present and put our best foot forward. We're a capable team. If we play the way that I know we can play, we'll have success. Still got a lot of talent on this team, we're getting a lot of guys back from injury — some of the dogs on our team. Just go out there and play your game. It's Sunday Night Football. If you can't get up for Sunday Night Football versus the Denver Broncos, for me personally, it'll be a special night."Von Miller via 7News DC

It promises to be an emotional occasion for Miller at Northwest Stadium. Depending on whether he continues his future Pro Football Hall of Fame career in 2026, this could be the final time he plays against the team he won a Super Bowl with.
He was the Broncos' No. 2 pick in 2011, spending a decade with the franchise en route to 110.5 sacks. Miller will go down as one of the most prolific pass-rushers of the modern era. Father Time is catching up quickly, so he'll want to leave a positive impression before contemplating what comes next once Washington's regular-season commitments conclude.
Miller is a respected figure. If he's got this mindset after achieving so much, everyone else must follow suit. And the Commanders are going to find out a lot more about their players down the stretch, with nothing much to play for other than pride.
It'll be interesting to see what unfolds, but they cannot be found wanting for effort. That comes with much graver ramifications attached.
