Commanders at Cardinals - Week 12

  • Date: Sunday, November 29
  • Time: 4:25 p.m. ET
  • Venue: State Farm Stadium
  • Channel: FOX

If the Washington Commanders are serious about winning the NFC East, they have to win their two games after Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals. Anything less, and this team must finally start looking ahead.

First up is a trip to take on the Arizona Cardinals. They have been much more competitive than people expected this season, and their stunning comeback against the Dallas Cowboys brought more ridicule in the direction of Washington's bitter division rival.

Head coach Mike LaFleur is moving forward with Gardner Minshew II as his starting quarterback. The Jacoby Brissett era is over, and he has been demoted to third string as Carson Beck assumes backup duties.

Even though first-round running back Jeremiyah Love has gone to injured reserve, Tyler Allgeier is more than capable of picking up the slack. Michael Wilson is a stud at wide receiver, and Trey McBride is one of the league's most prolific pass-catching tight ends.

Couple that with their improving young defense flying around the field with reckless abandon, and this could be a test for the Commanders. But with Jayden Daniels under center, they always have a good chance.

  • Prediction: Win (4-6-1)

A long trip to Arizona on a relatively short week isn't ideal. But if the Commanders display the correct resolve, this is a game they can win.

Commanders at Titans - Week 13

  • Date: Sunday, December 6
  • Time: 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Venue: Nissan Stadium
  • Channel: CBS

The Tennessee Titans seem to be looking to the future after trading Pro Bowl defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears. His impact with the NFC North club was immediate, but head coach Robert Saleh's squad showed they are still fighting.

Most expected them to get blown out by the Cincinnati Bengals. Instead, they took the potential playoff hopeful to overtime before eventually falling short. There are obviously no moral victories in the NFL, but this was pretty close to one.

It was also quarterback Cam Ward's best game since being drafted No. 1 overall last year. He's taken some deserved criticism, but he's not afraid to keep swinging. And with the pressure of expectation off his shoulders, he seems to be playing with an extra sense of freedom now.

The Washington Commanders have to be wary of this threat. Defense is the key, and if they can contain accomplished playmakers like Tony Pollard, Ward, Carnell Tate, and Wan'Dale Robinson, they have a shot.

  • Prediction: Win (5-6-1)

Washington should be able to put up decent numbers against the Titans' defense, especially without Simmons' powerful presence to worry about. And if Daronte Jones' defensive unit keeps Ward in check, the Commanders can come away with another important victory in their quest to win the division.
