Commanders vs. LA Rams - Week 9
- Date: Sunday, November 8
- Time: 1:00 p.m. ET
- Venue: Northwest Stadium
- Channel: FOX
The Washington Commanders remain on home soil in Week 9, welcoming the Los Angeles Rams to Northwest Stadium. This is another stern test of their credentials against a team expected to make a deep playoff run at season's end.
Much of the talk will be around Sean McVay, the coach who got away from Washington before leading the Rams back to prominence. He'll have some added motivation, being back in familiar surroundings, and stopping his offense is a daunting proposition for defensive coordinator Daronte Jones.
The Rams should also have All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett and defensive lineman Aaron Donald back by this point. Blocking this formidable tandem is almost impossible, and even though Los Angeles hasn't quite hit the ground running this season, McVay's team should be in midseason form by this point.
Much like their game against the San Francisco 49ers, nobody expects the Commanders to win this one. But if they can relax and play sound football, this could be more competitive than people expect.
- Prediction: Loss (3-5)
This is also a cross-country trip for a 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time game for the Rams, which presents issues. The Commanders might be able to take advantage of that, but Los Angeles has too much firepower for Washington to counteract.

Commanders at NY Giants - Week 10
- Date: Thursday, November 12
- Time: 8:15 p.m. ET
- Venue: MetLife Stadium
- Channel: Amazon Prime
The Commanders have a short turnaround before traveling to MetLife Stadium for a Thursday Night Football clash with the New York Giants. Dan Quinn's squad has a decent record against the G-Men in recent seasons, and he'll need to keep that trend up to stay in the fight.
As mentioned previously, the Giants look much more cohesive under head coach John Harbaugh. Not exactly surprising, given his previous accomplishments with the Baltimore Ravens before his relationship with the AFC North club ended this offseason. They are not the pushover of old, so the Commanders need to be at their best on the road.
J.J. McCarthy could be under center by this point. The Giants secured the quarterback via trade from the Minnesota Vikings, so they obviously see something in the Michigan product that can be salvaged. He has talent, but he's also an unknown quantity who makes errors, and this won't go unnoticed by Daronte Jones.
Pressure breaks pipes, and the Commanders have been generating a ton of it through the first four games of the campaign.
- Prediction: Win (4-5)
Hopefully, the Commanders will be a little healthier and a little more in sync by this point in the year. If they are, then another prime-time win will keep their heads above water heading into the business end of the campaign.
