The Washington Commanders are on the back foot again after their loss to the Indianapolis Colts in London. Head coach Dan Quinn is now 1-3 and dealing with some significant injury issues, so it'll take a monumental turnaround to pick things up from here.
Everyone knows what will probably come next if Quinn can't get positive results.
I highly doubt majority owner Josh Harris will pull the trigger on any firing during the season, but that's not guaranteed. The Commanders are 3-13 over their last 16 contests dating back to last season, and that worrying trend might be too much to ignore if it continues.
Things aren't looking especially promising, but there is some good news for Washington amid the doom and gloom.
The Commanders plan to start quarterback Jayden Daniels in Week 5 if he comes through another week of practice unscathed. With Marcus Mariota out with an MCL sprain, this is desperately needed, and Washington's franchise player will be hoping for a little good luck, using a brace to protect his dislocated elbow.
He'll need it, because the Commanders are teetering on the brink.
With that in mind, we predicted how the Commanders' next five games could shake out after their third loss in four contests.
Predicting the Washington Commanders' next five games after their 1-3 start to the 2026 season

Commanders vs. NY Giants - Week 5
- Date: Sunday, October 11
- Time: 1:00 p.m. ET
- Venue: Northwest Stadium
- Channel: FOX
The Commanders don't have a bye week after their international game against the Colts. They return to home soil for another divisional clash against the New York Giants, which has now become a must-win for the club.
New York is without its starting quarterback Jaxson Dart and star edge rusher Brian Burns for the season. However, they are making it work and winning games, which is a testament to their methodical, organized approach under head coach John Harbaugh.
The Giants have a steely resolve that must be taken seriously. They are playing to their strengths, and they still have some dangerous pieces on both sides of the football. For the Commanders, this all centers on stopping the run and making quarterback Jameis Winston uncomfortable.
Winston can put up points quickly. He also makes a ton of errors, so turnover opportunities should be plentiful if the Commanders apply enough pressure.
- Prediction: Win (2-3)
With Jayden Daniels likely back under center, right guard Sam Cosmi on the interior offensive line, and maybe even wide receiver Terry McLaurin back as well, the Commanders are getting a huge boost. And that might be enough for a season-saving victory.
