Commanders vs. Titans - Week 13

It's been a long road to the Washington Commanders' bye week. Bodies are weary and aches are building across the board. One last big effort is needed in Week 13 before their extended rest period.

Much like the situation in Week 12, this represents another game where the Commanders will be favored on home soil. The Tennessee Titans are languishing at 2-8 after their heavy loss to the Minnesota Vikings last time out. They have some nice pieces on both sides of the football, but nowhere near enough to be considered a legitimate threat.

This is the first season under new head coach Brian Callahan, so it's given the offensive mind a lot to ponder. Quarterback Will Levis doesn't look like the answer despite countless chances to impress. Letting running back Derrick Henry leave was a grave error in judgment looking at how the prolific presence is thriving with the Baltimore Ravens.

One or two top-level performers won't compensate for their deficiencies. Jeffrey Simmons is a phenomenal presence on the defensive front and must be respected. Calvin Ridley can go off at any moment if the wide receiver gets the correct distribution under center. Harold Landry III is a decent linebacker. The Commanders know what running back Tony Pollard can bring to the table from his time with the Dallas Cowboys.

Aside from that, nobody is standing out for this struggling outfit. They are leading the league in passing yards allowed per game at 164.6. However, it's also worth remembering that teams are running the football more given their large leads versus Tennessee in the second half.

  • Prediction: Commanders win (9-4)

Maintaining focus and giving everything to the cause before they get the opportunity to recuperate is the minimum requirement. If the players can muster one final pre-bye push and everyone executes their assignments effectively, they should come away with another morale-boosting triumph at Northwest Stadium.
