Commanders at NY Giants - Week 9

  • Date: Sunday, November 3
  • Time: 1.00 p.m. ET
  • Venue: MetLife Stadium

Sitting with a 6-2 record at the midway stage of the campaign would be beyond anyone's wildest dreams before the season began. Dan Quinn and his staff deserve tremendous credit for the way they've galvanized this revamped roster in such a short space of time. Adam Peters must also get plaudits for finding the right characters with the right blend of youth and experience capable of hitting the ground running.

The Washington Commanders travel to the New York Giants in Week 9. They've already beaten their NFC East rivals once this season thanks to kicker Austin Seibert's franchise-record seven field goals in Week 2. Had the offense converted their red-zone chances into touchdowns, the game would have been over long before the final play.

MetLife Stadium hasn't been a happy hunting ground for the Commanders in recent years. Daniel Jones always seems to play well versus Washington. They also had trouble stopping first-round pick Malik Nabers during their first outing, who should be back by this point after missing time due to a concussion.

There's also the formidable presence of Dexter Lawrence II to consider. The NFL's best nose tackle is on a tear to start the campaign. For someone of his size to have seven sacks through six weeks is astonishing. Washington's offensive line interior restricted him to four tackles during their first outing. They'll need similar output on the road in this one.

The Giants aren't as bad as some in the media seem to think. However, head coach Brian Daboll's men are 0-3 on home soil so far this season. This is something the Commanders must capitalize on to extend their exceptional start to the campaign.

  • Prediction: Commanders win (7-2)

This is all about momentum. The Commanders have more of that than most despite falling to defeat at the Baltimore Ravens. Winning on the road versus the Giants would be another telling indicator that the divisional tide is turning in their favor.
