After two successful road trips and a long time away from home, the Washington Commanders and back within familiar surroundings. It was a highly profitable fortnight for the organization, which resulted in two important victories on their travels. This moved them to 3-1 with plenty of national exposure for all the right reasons.

The hype is reaching levels not seen for decades in Washington. It's getting hard to keep these in check for fans, who've been starved of success for so long and genuinely believe something special is brewing under the new regime. While we're only one quarter through the 2024 season, the difference in the football product is night and day compared to anything during Ron Rivera's four-year stint as head coach.

Next up for the Commanders is a home encounter with the Cleveland Browns. Magic Johnson wants the fans to make their presence felt with momentum growing. This will be a difficult challenge to overcome, especially considering the presence of stud edge rusher Myles Garrett on the opposite side of the field.

Can the Commanders continue their remarkable start to their fourth win in five? Or will the Browns dig deep to play the role of spoiler?

Commanders vs. Browns prediction for Week 5

One could make a strong case for this being the Commanders' toughest test of the season so far. That's strange to say with so much positivity surrounding the organization, but the Browns have talent across the board and some elite-level performers capable of completely shifting the landscape of any game when in the mood.

This is what's typically called a trap game for head coach Dan Quinn's men. Washington is riding on the crest of a wave right now, which makes them weirdly vulnerable. Expectations are growing and the atmosphere promises to be electric at Northwest Stadium. There wasn't much pressure over the last two road contests. That won't be the case on their return to home soil.

Quinn must ensure complacency doesn't become an issue. That should be pretty straightforward considering the mindset within the building and the right blend of youth and experience across the roster. Starting well is crucial, which will put Deshaun Watson under pressure. That normally leads to mistakes, although he showed signs of improvement in Week 4's loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

  • Prediction: Commanders win

This is a game the Commanders can win. Kliff Kingsbury needs to keep the offense humming in the face of arguably the best defense they've come across so far. If he can accomplish this feat and the defense improves further following an encouraging display at the Arizona Cardinals, it should be enough to send the fans home happy.
