Washington Commanders 2023 season betting preview: Super Bowl odds, win total prediction, prop bets and more

Here's where the Washington Commanders stand in the futures market ahead of the 2023 season.

The Washington Commanders may be a forgotten team in the NFC playoff picture, but they have been around .500 in each of the three seasons with Ron Rivera at the helm.

Oddsmakers are low on the Commanders in the 2023 season, but does that give them some value in the futures market?

With Sam Howell and Jacoby Brissett battling for the team’s quarterback position, the ceiling is only so high in 2023. However, an elite defense – hopefully led by a healthy Chase Young – could be a difference maker for the Commanders’ playoff hopes.

BetSided’s NFL betting expert Iain MacMillan made his best bet for the team in the 2023 season, but we have you covered with even more odds from the team’s win total to a season-long prop bet to consider.

Washington Commanders Super Bowl 58 odds

The Commanders and New York Giants both have the same odds to win the Super Bowl in the 2023 season, but it’s going to be tough for either team to get there since the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are expected to control the division.

To put it simply, the Commanders don’t have the quarterback play necessary to really win a Super Bowl, unless Howell pops in his second NFL season. We know that Jacoby Brissett can be a solid game manager, but he hasn't been more than that in his NFL career.

I’d stay away from wagering on the Commanders at this price.

Washington Commanders win total prediction for the 2023 season

The Commanders are one of the team’s that is getting a ton of love in the futures market – and from sharps nonetheless.

Sharp money has come in heavily on the OVER for the team’s win total in the 2023 season, which could be a good sign for the team’s outlook.

Washington has the lowest win total projection in the NFC East, but the team has won at least seven games in six of the last seven seasons. That would put it clear of the 6.5 win total set in Vegas.

Since Ron Rivera took over, the team has at least seven wins in every season, taking the OVER on Washington’s projection could be a solid play.

Best Washington Commanders season-long prop bet

Terry McLaurin OVER 900.5 receiving yards (-130)

During his NFL career, Terry McLaurin hasn’t exactly had the best quarterback play, and that will likely continue in the 2023 season with either Jacoby Brissett or Sam Howell starting for the Commanders.

However, McLaurin has been extremely consistent – and successful – in his first four NFL seasons, clearing the 1,000 yard mark in three straight campaigns. He’s also had over 900.5 yards in every season in his NFL career.

I think oddsmakers are selling him a bit short in this prop (available at DraftKings Sportsbook), especially if Jahan Dotson can stay healthy in 2023. That will take some pressure off of McLaurin to beat double teams, and the looks should be there as well.

McLaurin has at least 120 targets in three straight seasons.

Out of all of Washington’s offensive weapons, McLaurin is by far the easiest to trust.
