Curtis Hodges - Commanders TE

Curtis Hodges would seem to be one of the possible beneficiaries of Armani Rogers’ injury. In camp last season, he took snaps along with Rogers while Cole Turner was nursing an injury and Logan Thomas was being gently handled.

Hodges produced in his first pre-season game, then got hurt, and then was put on injured/reserve. He has a very long frame, and though he is far from elite in terms of speed or power, he moves rather well in short areas.

If Hodges improves his blocking, he could slot in as John Bates’ backup. But he may face competition from players not yet on the roster before making the final 53.

BEST: Wins a job on the opening day roster and is active for half the team’s games. Plays mostly on special teams, but does make one play that helps win a tight game and has everyone asking, “who’s the tall guy?”

WORST: Competition from a late signee pushes him off the roster and the Washington Commanders find a different developmental tight end for the practice squad.

REALISTIC: Closer to the worst than the best. I believe the Commanders will sign another tight end once other teams begin making cuts, and I think whoever they sign will take Hodges' roster spot. But I do believe he sticks on the practice squad.
