Commanders at Falcons - Week 6

After a mini-bye week following Thursday Night Football, the Washington Commanders have another game where they might end up being favored despite being on their travels. The Atlanta Falcons boast some dangerous firepower on both sides of the football, but quarterback Desmond Ridder is a potential weak link threatening to hold this team back.

Providing the Commanders' defense has shrugged off their Week 3 performance by this point, they could feast at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. This is all predicated on Washington stopping the prolific running back tandem of Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier, so putting the game squarely on Ridder's shoulders represents the main key to victory in Week 6.

While the Falcons do have Kyle Pitts and Drake London leading their passing attack, Ridder's suspect distribution remains a concern. The Commanders' defensive front will know full well that if the necessary pressure arrives, the former Cincinnati product is prone to mistakes.

Finding more balance on offense is key on the road. Brian Robinson Jr. called for more touches this week - especially early on - so the onus is on Eric Bieniemy to find the right formula that doesn't make Washington's offense one-dimensional.

Prediction: Win (4-2)

Much like the Chicago Bears game, it would be disappointing if the Commanders didn't come away with a win. Given how tough things could get over the second half of 2023, any momentum-building result Ron Rivera can get at this juncture is a bonus.
