Commanders at Eagles - Week 4

The Washington Commanders' first divisional clash of the 2023 campaign is a difficult one. Going to the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles is always a huge litmus test thanks to their outstanding roster across the board and a fanbase that is widely regarded as one of the league's most intimidating.

Again, this is a journey into the proverbial unknown for Sam Howell. The quarterback played in some hostile environments during his college days at North Carolina, but this will be another level up and something Eric Bieniemy must prepare his signal-caller for fully before stepping onto the field.

Despite the Eagles barely escaping Gillette Stadium with victory over the New England Patriots, they are absolutely loaded from top to bottom. And in stud defensive lineman Jalen Carter, they boast a legitimate game-wrecker and NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year frontrunner.

If the Commanders go into this game 3-0, they are playing with house money. That means Ron Rivera and his players can relax and perform with a little extra freedom in pursuit of putting the entire NFL on notice.

Predication: Loss (3-1)

While getting one over on divisional rivals would be a staggering achievement this early into Howell's tenure under center, the Eagles might have too much for Washington on home soil. But if the Commanders can keep it close until late, that represents a moral triumph if nothing else.
