Commanders opening 2024 win total prediction (Expect small step forward next season)
The Washington Commanders got off to a 2-0 start in 2023 but everything went down hill after that, finishing with a 4-13 record.
The good news is they hold the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, the bad news is no matter who they take with that pick, oddsmakers have little faith in them taking a significant step forward in the 2024 season.
Now that we're a month into the offseason, sportsbooks have released projected win totals for the upcoming regular season. Let's take a peak at how many wins they expected the Commanders to rack up.
2024 Commanders win total
Vegas has the Commanders' win total for the 2024 regular season set at 6.5, with the OVER juiced to -128. That means there's a 56.14% chance the Commanders will win at least seven games next season.
While going 7-10 may not be much to get excited about, it's a step in the direction after winning just four games in 2023.
The team has made plenty of moved so far in the offseason, improving several positions. The most notable signings with Austin Ekeler at running back, Zach Ertz at tight end, Dante Fowler on the defensive line, Tyler Biadasz at center, Jeremy Chinn at safety, and Bobby Wagner at linebacker.
Now if they're able to get their quarterback of the future in the draft, they're going to be in a good spot moving forward. Unfortunately, Rome wasn't built in a day so we can only expect so much improvement in a single season, but the Commanders seem to be on the right track to getting back to being a playoff team and contending in the NFC East.
