Commanders News: Trade talk, power rankings, Jacoby Brissett and Ron Rivera

Interest growing in Commanders DE duo
If the Washington Commanders decide to sell off assets before the trade deadline, it starts and ends with deciding between Chase Young or Montez Sweat as part of their long-term planning. Both defensive ends are out of contract in 2024 and playing at a high enough level to suggest they'll demand major money - something the franchise might not be able to afford given their commitment to Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne.
It's really hard to call. Sweat is the more dependable option and is a core foundational piece almost anywhere, but Young has returned to his old self and causing significant havoc over his five NFL starts this season.
Josina Anderson of CBS Sports has been at the forefront of developments. Her latest update claimed interest would be extremely high in Young or Sweat, with numerous teams also willing to hand them a jumper new deal from the moment they get into the building.
"Meanwhile, it is my understanding, that there are several identifiable teams that have both interest in trading for either Commanders DEs Montez Sweat or Chase Young, AND are willing to offer either a long-term deal ahead of free agency."

If the Commanders end up trying to cope with a bidding war, it might work in their favor in pursuit of extracting maximum value for either. Fans are split on which pass-rusher should go, so it'll be interesting to see how Ron Rivera and others in positions of power handle this precarious situation.
And they better be right.
