Commanders QB Sam Howell on uncertainty

It's hard to ignore the rumors and speculation surrounding Ron Rivera's future. Looking at how things have unfolded, it seems for all the smart money as if the head coach is living on borrowed time with the Washington Commanders as Josh Harris' ownership group gets set to make landmark changes at some stage.

Whether this comes in-season or during the dreaded Black Monday remains to be seen. When discussing the impact this chatter is having on the players, quarterback Sam Howell stated those within the building are striving to improve and valiantly trying to block out the outside noise based on comments via SB Nation.

"I don’t think it’s hard. I mean, obviously, everyone knows the business we’re in and at the end of the day, if you’re not doing your job, things will happen. But us players, coaches, I don’t think anyone’s really worried about it, we’re just trying to do everything we can on a daily basis and the results are the results. We try to do everything we can in our power to control what we can control and make sure we come in here each and every day and put our all into this. I think everyone has throughout the year, and obviously we’ve had some disappointing games, but nothing changes. We’re going to come in here and give it our all every single day and the results are what they are."

Howell took a step back against the New York Giants, but he wasn't alone in that regard. What's important for the signal-caller - who was wearing a Clemson hoodie after losing a bet following the Tigers' win over North Carolina - is bouncing back in fine style with the national NFL audience watching on Thanksgiving afternoon at AT&T Stadium.
