Jacoby Brissett's influence praised

When Jacoby Brissett came into the game, it was like he'd been under center all season. The veteran quarterback provided the spark this offense desperately needed. It wasn't enough to complete a stunning comeback, but that does not detract from his outstanding fourth-quarter contribution.

Brissett's been influential behind the scenes since joining the Washington Commanders in free agency. When the time finally came to showcase his talent in a competitive environment, he was keen to make the most of it en route to an 80 percent completion success for 124 passing yards, two touchdowns, and a 157.9 passer rating for good measure.

When discussing Brissett after the game, wide receiver Terry McLaurin was gushing in his praise based on comments via social media. The wideout enjoyed his best game of the campaign thanks in no small part to improved chemistry with the man under center. This didn't go unnoticed.

"Football is football no matter what scheme you're in, so he understands leverages, he understands where he needs to release the ball. I think myself being a vet, him being a vet, we just have one of those connections where he feels like he's comfortable with where I'm going to be and I know how he's going to place the ball up in the air."

Ron Rivera is going to move forward with Sam Howell with just three games left. But based on Brissett's performance, the margin for error is slimmer than ever before.
