Commanders draft Brock Bowers in PFN's mock

Josh Harris' ownership group has already begun planning for the future. Trading Chase Young and Montez Sweat before the deadline provides the franchise with an abundance of high-end draft capital. It also gives the new incoming regime multiple options about which directions to go when the big weekend arrives.

During a recent mock draft published by Pro Football Network, the Commanders traded down from No. 4 overall after striking a hypothetical deal with the Tennessee Titans. This gives them three extra selections and saw Washington take stud tight end Brock Bowers from No. 8 overall.

"In this simulation, we’re projecting Eric Bieniemy as the Commanders coach in 2024. Hailing from the Andy Reid coaching tree, there should be no question concerning whether or not he should be able to maximize a tight end prospect as talented as Brock Bowers. Bowers is incredibly versatile. Put the ball in his hands in the run game and in the screen game. He’s surprisingly elusive as a runner, endlessly explosive, and impressively powerful. But he is also an outstanding route runner, using his frame and athleticism very effectively."

Passing on a quarterback or the top-two premier left tackles represents a gamble. Much will also depend on what the Commanders end up doing in free agency with more than $80 million in available salary-cap space currently.
