Ron Rivera on Commanders QB situation
It might have been another defeat for the Washington Commanders in Week 10, but quarterback Sam Howell once again emerged with a tremendous amount of credit. The former fifth-round pick turned in a stylish performance and leads the NFL in passing yards as a result, conjuring up magic on countless occasions and doing more than enough to win if the circumstances were different.
Sadly, the defense couldn't live up to their end of the bargain. But that does not detract from an encouraging outing from Howell, which was reflected by head coach Ron Rivera during his latest media availability on Monday via Sports Illustrated.
"Everything he did, I thought he gave us an opportunity to win. That’s the biggest thing you can ask for the quarterback. To put you in a position to win, he did that. Now, there’s a couple of things he’d like to have back, a couple of decisions that could’ve been better, I’m nitpicking, but those are the things that he’s going to learn and get better with. The only big flop you saw was the fumble."

It seems as if the Commanders have found their franchise quarterback whether Rivera stays or not. If this is something Josh Harris' ownership group agrees with, then building around the promising signal-caller to ensure better fortunes moving forward becomes Washington's No. 1 priority above all else.
Just who'll be tasked with that building process is another matter.
