Commanders must be disciplined in Week 3
Although the Washington Commanders are currently on a three-game unbeaten run dating back to last season, the Buffalo Bills will be the toughest test of their credentials so far. Some unique challenges await on both sides of the football, so it'll be interesting to see how Ron Rivera and his staff scheme things up in front of a sold-out crowd.
Of course, the weather isn't expected to be great. But when probed about how the Commanders plan to counteract the supreme threat offered by quarterback Josh Allen, it all starts with discipline based on Rivera's presser comments via SB Nation.
"Discipline. Discipline more than anything else. You’ve got to be disciplined. You’ve got to have rush lane discipline. You’ve got to have discipline in terms of your coverages. You can’t let him look you off. You can’t lose your guy when he starts to scramble around. You’ve got a plaster as pass rushers. You’ve got to make sure you contain him. If you’re going to let him run, make sure he runs to his opposite side. You don’t want him scrambling to his right. That’s where he is really deadly going to the left. That’s a little tougher throw. Those are the types of things that I know Jack has mentioned to those guys and they just got to understand this game is about being rush disciplined."Ron Rivera via SB Nation
Allen is going to make big plays, that's almost a given. However, if the Commanders' defense approaches things correctly, the signal-caller is also prone to giving away turnovers through rash decision-making when the pressure is on.
