Commanders QB Sam Howell's confidence
The plaudits continue to arrive for quarterback Sam Howell after the NFL's passing leader continues to prove he's worthy of being the Washington Commanders man under center in 2024 and beyond. It might not be coming with an upturn in positive results, but the former fifth-round selection is a long, long way down the team's list of problems right now.
Momentum is building around Howell and the signal-caller has another good chance to stake his claim versus a struggling New York Giants outfit this weekend. But all the North Carolina product is focused on is putting the Commanders in positions to win rather than any personal achievements based on comments via Washington's website.
"I want to go out there every single weekend, play well and give our team a chance to win. Obviously, we haven't won enough games. We haven't won the games that I feel like we should have won this season. So that's a little bit disappointing, but I really don't look too much into what I'm doing on a personal level. We're going to take it one week at a time and we feel good about our chances against every single one of these teams that we play. So, it's just a matter of us doing the right things throughout the week to give ourselves a chance on Sunday and then going out there on Sunday and executing. We have a lot of football left, so that's what we're focused on."

Once the defense starts putting together better efforts, the Commanders will thrive under Howell. But with a torrid stretch of playoff contenders upcoming on the schedule down the stretch, that'll be easier said than done.
