Commanders QB Sam Howell's excitement

Nothing has phased Sam Howell during his first season as Washington Commanders starting quarterback. Even when things haven't gone well for the promising signal-caller, the demeanor remains unchanged, and the resolve to put things right increases.

This is another daunting challenge for Howell this weekend. Lumen Field's atmosphere generated by The 12th Man makes things extremely difficult for opposing quarterbacks, but the former fifth-round pick is relishing the prospect of rising to the test based on comments via Sports Illustrated.

"It's a great opportunity to go play against a good football team. They're doing a good job on both sides of the ball, and they've won a good amount of games this year, and we know it's going to take our best to go up there and get a win. It's an exciting opportunity. We don't really look into who is ahead of us and who's not. We just try to take it one game at a time and try to go 1-0 each and every week. Every single game that we play is the most important game of the year. We treat every single game as a must-win."

Howell turned on the style at Lincoln Financial Field against the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this season, which brings similar hostility to the table. Getting some assistance from the running game would help, but there's nothing to suggest he cannot give another tremendous account of himself versus a potential playoff hopeful.
