Commanders QB Sam Howell relishing the challenge
Even though Sam Howell hasn't been officially confirmed as the Washington Commanders' starting quarterback in 2023, he all but cemented this notion during joint practices with the Baltimore Ravens. His confidence is growing and there seems to be more flamboyance to his production under center, which only heightens the level of intrigue surrounding the signal-caller before the campaign.
Howell is set to start again on Monday night against the Ravens. Just how much the former fifth-round selection plays remains to be seen, but the North Carolina product is ready for what promises to be a tough challenge versus the Ravens' defense based on his comments via Sports Illustrated.
"They do a really good job over here in Baltimore, especially on the defensive side of the ball. It was a great opportunity for us as an offense to come out here and get better. Just try to show what we can do and if we do make mistakes to learn from those mistakes. I thought it was a good two days for us as a group. I was very pleased with the stuff we were able to put on tape so I feel good coming out of here."Sam Howell via Sports Illustrated
The Commanders will take it easy with Howell and keep things pretty generic from a scheme standpoint in the hope of not giving the game plan away before Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals. Regardless of how things go during this particular warmup clash, there is a growing belief that the Commanders might have something special on their hands at football's most pivotal position at last.
