Ron Rivera's post-bye Commanders expectations
Getting away from it all is normally welcomed by players and coaches alike. Unfortunately for the Washington Commanders, their bye week came too late to salvage anything from the 2023 campaign.
Not even winning out would put them in the playoff picture. Ron Rivera's remained resolute with speculation rising to exponential levels regarding his future, but the head coach is relishing the prospect of going up against the Los Angeles Rams after coming back into the building refreshed based on comments via SB Nation.
"I think for the coaches it was refreshing. We got a chance to go back, reevaluate, look at some of the things, and look at the things that we did well, and some of the things that we need to get better at. So, it was really a good break, it came out, unfortunately, a little bit later. I’d love to have seen it a little bit earlier in the year, but it was good for us. You’d love to see our guys come out and really just play to their abilities, do the things that they’re capable of. I think this is a very good challenge for us just because it is a team that is fighting for their playoff life. The big thing that we have to do is just go out and play our game."

After Montez Sweat's comments about his old teammates just going through the motions, all eyes will be on the effort and commitment in this one. There is no pressure on the Commanders, but there is a certain level of expectancy to remain committed and keep fighting despite another losing season already confirmed.
