Commanders QB Jacoby Brissett's mindset

While all the focus is seemingly on Sam Howell's future and what the Washington Commanders might do at the quarterback position long-term, Jacoby Brissett is focusing on the now. He's waited a long time for an opportunity this season. He's eager to make the most it it and build on the positive momentum generated when stepping into the breach over the last two games.

When asked about how he was going to approach what appears to be an extremely tough challenge against the San Francisco 49ers defense, Brissett planned to be himself based on comments via the team's website. The veteran will rely on what brought him to the dance. Hopefully, that'll be enough for another decent outing.

"Just go out there and be myself. Go try and play good football, play clean and obviously the coaches make the decision as far as who plays and who doesn't play. But I was just going out there, just being myself and trying to give our team a chance."

The Niners have defensive weapons capable of making things difficult for Brissett. It's unlikely the Commanders will switch things up under center unless things are completely spiraling out of control. Whether the former third-round pick out of North Carolina State can do enough to get starting duties for their season finale versus the Dallas Cowboys is another matter.
