Commanders OL Nick Gates' reunion
Sunday's game is a special one for Nick Gates. The veteran center spent the first four seasons of his professional career with the New York Giants before signing with the Washington Commanders in free agency, which should provide added incentive to come away from MetLife Stadium with a victory.
When discussing the prospect of facing his old team, Gates is adopting an all-business approach. The former Nebraska stud is also keen to treat this like any other game based on comments via USA Today Sports.
"Nothing, it’s a football game, you know, it is what it is. It’s a business, it’s part of this league. So, you’re going to move on; you’re going to go to other teams. It’ll be nice to see my old buddies, all the old training staff. Other than that, it’s just a football game."

While the Giants might be struggling to generate sacks, their defensive front still warrants the utmost respect. Gates knows how devastating they can be more than most, so his input throughout the week will no doubt have been invaluable to the Commanders' preparations before such a pivotal encounter.
Hopefully, Gates can give a good account of himself against those he practiced against daily. Something that would go a long way to giving quarterback Sam Howell the protection he needs to thrive once again.
