Eric Bieniemy on Commanders switch

Eric Bienemy's brief stint with the Washington Commanders since his high-profile switch from the Kansas City Chiefs has been a breath of fresh air. It's also something that seems to have reinvigorated the coach's mindset as he looks to prove worthy of a head coaching opportunity once and for all.

When speaking about the move recently, Bieniemy stated via John Keim of ESPN that it's helped avoid any complacency in his own coaching career. He's also set a primary objective of raising the standards across Washington's talented offense that lacked any true conviction in 2022.

"When you’ve been in a place for 10 years, you have a tendency to take certain things for granted. This has helped me to go back and dot all the I’s and cross all the T’s. The thing I always stress is that I want us to have a sense of urgency and sense of purpose. Getting out of the huddle is probably the most important thing because you’re setting a tone to the defense. I’m always critical of that. Then I want us to execute our jobs with greater attention to detail."

Bieniemy's presence helps a ton. But there are still some big questions that must be answered before further confidence in the Commanders' offense arrives.

If Bieniemy can get a tune out of Sam Howell and Washington's offensive line also holds up their end of the bargain, it would be a tremendous slight on the respected figure if he wasn't under serious consideration for a top job during the next head coaching cycle.
