Terry McLaurin's important Commanders relationship

NFL success is built on strong working relationships. This is the hallmark of any contending team and something Eric Bieniemy knows well after his trophy-laden stay with the Kansas City Chiefs that concluded with yet another Super Bowl title.

This is an ethos Bieniemy's looking to implement across the Washington Commanders following his bombshell switch. It's been a rude awakening for many on the roster, but increased demands and a more creative scheme are exactly what this struggling offense needs to flourish.

Terry McLaurin brought up the topic when speaking about Bieniemy recently. The Pro Bowl wide receiver stated via Sports Illustrated that he's built a strong relationship with his play-caller, highlighting the commitment to excellence that has already begun separating the weak from the strong as training camp looms large.

"Him and I have built a really good relationship. I know he's leaning on me to be a leader, set the tone not only with my play on the field but my voice [as well]. He's helped me even take my game up a little level in the fact that just expecting that excellent each and every play…Ain't nothing just good enough with EB…When you have a coach that's preaching that every single day, every single rep, you're either going to get with it or get lost."

McLaurin is a focal point and is eager to lead from the front to ensure Bieniemy's big move goes off without a hitch. That's a fantastic foundation, but it'll count for nothing if quarterback Sam Howell and the offensive line cannot raise their respective output in 2023.
