Commanders DE Montez Sweat's evolution
When the Washington Commanders needed their strongest unit to step up and make a big difference, the defensive line duly obliged in Week 1. Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen were nothing short of relentless on the interior, with Montez Sweat also demonstrating game-altering capabilities coming off the edge during another contest where Chase Young was missing.
Sweat looks well on course for another huge year en route to a massive payday in Washington or elsewhere. He's always had immense physical attributes, but the former first-round pick is now putting it all together into a three-down force that represents a nightmare to block.
This was a sentiment echoed by Commanders' wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who is clearly impressed with the way Sweat is going about his business these days based on comments via the team's website.
"I think that's the Montez that has been continually getting better each and every year. And now, he's at a place where he's changing the game, and I think you need that from a guy with his potential, a guy with his skill set, and it changed the game what he did."Terry McLaurin via Commanders.com
Sweat's matchup with Garett Bolles is one of the more fascinating ones to watch in Week 2. Which player comes out on top could have a significant say on the overall outcome.
