Commanders News: Ron Rivera, Martin Mayhew, Brian Robinson and Mitchell Tinsley

Commanders WR Mitchell Tinsley praised
After a starring series of performances during the preseason, wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley was rewarded with a place on the Washington Commanders' initial 53-man roster. This is something the undrafted free agent earned with polished performances, taking advantage of every rep, and far exceeding expectations.
It doesn't seem likely that Tinsley would be sacrificed for anyone on the waiver wire, either. While the former Western Kentucky phenom might not see much of the field unless injury strikes, his ability to make a contribution on special teams was enough for the Commanders to take him through.
When reflecting on Tinsley's impact, head coach Ron Rivera stated via Sports Illustrated that the talent was noticeable right out of the gate. Something that only progressed throughout the summer en route to achieving his objective.
"I think the biggest thing with Mitchell [Tinsley] is it was from Day 1 you just saw it. Whether it was when we started back in OTAs…and then we saw it from the beginning of training camp and he just progressed and progressed…he was a young man that we really felt pretty confident about his growth and development."

What comes next for Tinsley is unclear. But there are enough physical gifts at the player's disposal to suggest he could emerge as a rotational figure with further development in the coming months.
