Commanders OL Sam Cosmi on changes

For all the concerns surrounding the Washington Commanders' offensive line, Sam Cosmi's transition from the edge into the right guard position seems to be a big reason for encouragement. The former second-round selection looked poised and extremely comfortable during his limited preseason involvement, which could see even more in terms of productivity once he's on the field for a full four quarters.

What happens around Cosmi is less certain. Andrew Wylie and Nick Gates come with concerns after arriving in free agency, Charles Leno Jr. is facing a make-or-break campaign at left tackle, and the left guard position is also under severe scrutiny despite the Commanders not giving up on Saahdiq Charles just yet.

When asked about the big differences to expect from the Commanders this season, Cosmi stated via USA Today Sports that conditioning promises to be a positive factor after a lot of hard work throughout the preparation period.

"This training camp, especially, we worked our tails off. I feel like we’re the most conditioned when going into games. You win a lot games in the 4th quarter, and I think we’re going to outlast a lot of teams in the 4th quarter. So, just based on the conditioning and based on how hard we worked in training camp, we have the talent, we have the guys and we put in the work."

Hopefully, the Commanders can finish strongly during almost every game. Looking at their schedule and the pressure on many in positions of power, every little advantage helps.
