Commanders S Kamren Curl's toughest opponents
Kamren Curl is heading into the most important campaign of his professional career should the Washington Commanders decide not to extend him beforehand. The gifted young safety is among the league's most promising players at the position, so tying him down prior to Week 1 should be among the team's biggest priorities once new ownership comes into the fold.
Curl is taking everything in his stride and has been around the facility throughout voluntary workouts. He did skip the team portion of drills more often than not, but there doesn't appear to be a great deal of concern surrounding his participation at camp even if a deal cannot be agreed upon - and everyone knows the mitigating circumstances involved.
The former seventh-round selection out of Arkansas recently discussed his toughest adversaries during an appearance on the Talk of the Town 918 podcast. Curl brought a few household names up via Sports Illustrated, which also included an All-Pro veteran who was a constant thorn in Washington's side during his time with the New York Giants.
"No. 1 off the bat, Calvin Ridley. I had to play him my freshman year. He different…and then we had to play Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs, Jaylen Waddle we had to play them all three years at Arkansas…DeVonta Smith…A.J. Brown (is) real nice. We played Odell (Beckham Jr.) when he was (with) the Browns (and) he's like that, for real."Kamren Curl via Sports Illustrated
Curl won't ever back down from a challenge that's for sure. If he enjoys another standout season in 2023 and the player's partnership on the backend with Darrick Forrest flourishes once again, he can expect to be rewarded with a hefty contract if the Commanders end up waiting.
