Josh Harris strengthens Commanders connections

It seems as if Josh Harris wants to make his presence felt even before his ownership group formally takes charge of the Washington Commanders in a history-making $6.05 billion deal. This has nothing to do with the football side of things officially - in accordance with NFL rules - but focuses more on strengthening the connection between himself and one of the most beloved figures in franchise history.

Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment and Arctos Partners agreed to make a significant investment in Joe Gibbs Racing to become a minority stakeholder. This comes after the pair developed a strong working relationship in recent years, with the former head coach also lending his advice during the sale process.

In a press release via Pro Football Talk, Harris lauded Gibbs' proven track record of building strong cultures and winning. Something he hopes the Commanders can also achieve under his leadership with the right infrastructure in place.

"In recent years I’ve been fortunate enough to get to know Coach Gibbs and am proud to count him as a trusted friend and advisor. Joe is a winner. First in football and then with Joe Gibbs Racing, he has led organizations that build winning cultures based on strong values and a deep commitment to family and faith. This investment and partnership aims to support his vision and allow Joe Gibbs Racing to continue its track record of excellence long into the future."

There was no mention of Gibbs being a minority owner of the Commanders, which has been denied so far. But this might be something of note if the stance changes in the near future.
