Commanders RB Antonio Gibson's outlook
Eric Bieniemy's presence is already being felt across the Washington Commanders. There's been a clear rise in standards and accountability since his high-profile switch from the Kansas City Chiefs - something that can hopefully lead to better execution when it counts during a make-or-break campaign for many within the franchise.
One player that stands to benefit greatly from Bieniemy's arrival is Antonio Gibson. Head coach Ron Rivera's already stated his desire to get the running back more touches, which could see plenty of looks in the passing game given how his new play-caller likes to deploy backfield weapons as part of a dynamic scheme.
When discussing this possibility recently, Gibson stated via Clutch Points that this newfound freedom to flourish is exactly what he's been looking for. Something that was sorely missing under Scott Turner in 2022.
"I haven’t shown my position. … Every year we talk about it, but it hasn’t happened. Hopefully, this year, it comes around to where I get to showcase on multiple occasions what I can do out there. The level of discipline, and what we need to be doing and how we need to do it, it shows right now. By the time we get to the season, we’re gonna be ready for anything."Antonio Gibson via Clutch Points
This is great news for Gibson entering a contract year. Considering the reluctance from teams to pay running backs these days, leaving a big impression next time around will do wonders for the dollars on his pending contract demands.
