Commanders OC praises Jayden Daniels

It's safe to say Jayden Daniels has made a tremendous first impression on everyone associated with the Washington Commanders. Expectations are high surrounding the quarterback after those in power took him at No. 2 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. It's a responsibility he's taking seriously, putting in the work and leading from the front over the early stages of offseason workouts.

Daniels is going to go through some turbulence as a rookie. Things speed up in the NFL and the margin for error diminishes significantly. That said, this looks like a tremendous environment for the signal-caller within an offensive scheme that should play to his strengths.

Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury will be tasked with making sure Daniels hits the ground running. Based on his early impressions via Pro Football Talk, the play-caller likes what he sees from the Heisman Trophy winner out of LSU.

“He’s intentional in everything he does, which I like. That’s what we had heard about him coming up, and that’s what he’s been since he’s been here. He’s focused, intentional, and got to work. So that’s been fun to be around. He has a plan for studying. He has a plan for practice. He has a plan for watching film. He knows what he wants to be and where he wants to go. To be that young and come in there with that mindset is real encouraging. We’ve only had him a couple days, but he works really hard at it. What I liked most about the college tape was the drastic improvement we saw year in and year out.”

This is a sentiment echoed by his teammates during their respective appearances in front of the media. Daniels has that quiet aura and fierce inner drive that people naturally gravitate towards. There is a long way to go before the time comes to suit up in Week 1, but the dual-threat weapon is off to a promising start.
