It didn't seem likely that the Washington Commanders would ever trade out of the No. 2 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. Adam Peters was in a prime position to find a legitimate franchise-changing quarterback once Caleb Williams went to the Chicago Bears at No. 1. After so much mismanagement at football's most important position under previous regimes, it was an opportunity the new general manager wasn't going to waste.
During a recent radio appearance, Peters revealed via USA Today Sports that he received one legitimate offer for the No. 2 pick. However, the offer didn't come anywhere close to moving from their desired path, which was Jayden Daniels.
“I think you’d be surprised, really, in terms of the offers. We got, really one solid offer and didn’t even move the needle. It would have taken, it had to move mountains to get us off Jayden.”
