Commanders News: Jahan Dotson, Ron Rivera, Eric Bieniemy and Sam Howell

Commanders QB Sam Howell's high praise
Sam Howell is starting to get the recognition his outstanding production deserves. The quarterback has firmly settled into the starting role, coming up with some huge games, and currently lies second in passing yards league-wide within Eric Bieniemy's pass-heavy system.
There are growing sounds coming from the Washington Commanders have their franchise guy under center. There is a lot of football left this season, but Howell can take great heart from this growing momentum as he looks to cement his status for 2024 and beyond.
The former fifth-round pick out of North Carolina got another seal of approval this week. Ex-Washington quarterback Joe Theismann couldn't have been more complimentary about the signal-caller via USA Today Sports - a sentiment he believes is shared within the building.
"I think Sam (Howell) does a terrific job leading this football team. The quarterback position is unique when it comes to a leadership role. Can you deliver in the moment?” The guys are looking to you; the guys are counting on you. He’s one tough son-of-a-gun. He’s been sacked 41 times [it's 44 times, to be precise], I think is the number. I’m always curious when a quarterback gets knocked down, who’s helping him up? You watch some quarterbacks when they go down; there is not one lineman there helping them up. That is all you need to know about how that team feels about that individual. These guys appreciate Sam; they appreciate his work ethic. I am getting a kick out of watching Sam grow."

Another stern challenge awaits for Howell this weekend at the Seattle Seahawks. But his determination, poise, and ability to handle the big moment will always give the Commanders a chance.
