Commanders OC Eric Bieniemy finding his rhythm
There have been notable improvements to the Washington Commanders' offense over the last fortnight. This has a lot to do with the offensive line changes bearing fruit, but play-caller Eric Bieniemy also deserves credit for his schematic alterations to counteract the problems over the opening few games.
Bieniemy's offense looks fluid and capable of putting up yards in a hurry. Many still wonder if the balance is right in terms of run-pass, but all signs are pointing up despite some difficult-looking games upcoming on the schedule.
When discussing Bieniemy, quarterback Sam Howell stated via SB Nation that the rhythm is starting to build. The former fifth-round selection also believes their relationship will continue to flourish over the next eight games.
"I think we’re getting better each and every week, not only just me and EB, but I think as an offense as a whole. I think we’re getting better each and every week and I think he’s calling some really good games and he’ll continue to do that. He prepares so hard and always has a good plan for us. For the most part we’ve been executing it, we just got to try to continue to finish drives and finish games in the fourth quarter."

If Howell is right, Bieniemy might be in line to finally get the head coaching gig he richly deserves when the 2024 cycle gets underway. Whether that's with the Commanders or elsewhere remains to be seen.
