Jahan Dotson poised for Commanders breakout

After flashing moments of brilliance as a rookie, hopes are high that Jahan Dotson is destined for greatness next season and beyond. The Washington Commanders are expecting big things from their wide receiver core under Eric Bieniemy, who could be the spark that ignites the offense to heights not seen for some time.

Dotson will be an integral part of these plans and looks more than ready for increased responsibilities. If quarterback Sam Howell provides the stability needed under center, the former first-round selection stands to benefit more than most.

This was a sentiment echoed by Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports, who tipped Dotson to enjoy a true breakout campaign in 2023. Something the writer stated would be further aided by playing opposite a prolific wideout in the form of Terry McLaurin.

"Dotson had an impressive rookie season in 2022, despite playing with three different quarterbacks. Establishing himself as a deep-ball receiver, Dotson finished with 35 catches for 523 yards and seven touchdowns -- as his 14.9 yards per catch was fourth highest in the NFC. Dotson tied Christian Watson for first in touchdown catches amongst rookies and was second in yards per catch among rookies (minimum 50 targets). Playing next to Terry McLaurin will help Dotson make a big leap in 2023."

The one-time Penn State star has been a willing learner and is welcoming Bienemy's increased expectations throughout the offseason so far. Something that can hopefully reap some huge rewards for the player and the Commanders when competitive games begin.
