Commanders' concern for Jacoby Brissett

It's been another week of quarterback uncertainty for the Washington Commanders. Nothing unusual during the Ron Rivera era, but things took an unexpected turn on Friday when new No. 1 option Jacoby Brissett landed on the injury report with a hamstring complication.

Brissett's waited a long time for his starting chance behind Sam Howell this season. Missing out due to injury would be a major blow for the player in his quest to convince another team he's worthy of signing when the time for free agency arrives.

When discussing the injury during his recent media availability, head coach Ron Rivera stated Brissett was moving around well in practice. However, his reps were limited as the Commanders erred on the side of caution with the veteran signal-caller.

If Brissett cannot participate, the Commanders will go back to Sam Howell. This might have an awkward feel to it after his recent benchings. But everyone needs to remain professional in the face of a potential embarrassment on home soil against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

It would be a big shock if Brissett didn't suit up. Landing on the Friday injury report isn't ideal, but the Commanders just have to roll with the punches and hope everything works out.
